Monika Mayr became the Deputy Superintendent of the Blue Ridge Parkway in June 2009. In that capacity, she is responsible for the Parkway’s internal operations along its 469 miles. The Blue Ridge Parkway is known as “America’s favorite drive” and is enjoyed by over 16 million visitors annually.
Ms. Mayr’s National Park Service career spans over 25 years and includes assignments as Superintendent of Vicksburg National Military Park, Assistant Superintendent of Biscayne National Park, Superintendent of Obed Wild and Scenic River, and Contracting Officer for the National Capital Region.
She is a graduate of Virginia Tech and grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC.
