Greener Results
Tom Griffin is the Director and Co-Founder of Greener Results, a full-service environmental consulting group that works with its clients to develop sustainability and greening initiatives that are practical and cost-effective. Greener Results Consulting currently works for clients ranging from manufacturing to commercial building management to hotels and restaurants to education.
In his 18-year career in Virginia government, Tom helped develop and run a wide array of voluntary, pollution prevention-based programs for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, including Virginia Green, the state’s partnership program that encourages environmentally-friendly practices in all sectors of the Virginia’s tourism industry. Tom currently serves as lead consultant to the Virginia Tourism Corporation in charge of promoting and leading the Virginia Green program.
Tom’s forte’ still is the development and support of voluntary, pollution prevention-based programs – as Greener Results currently serves as lead consultant to Virginia Green, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s green tourism initiative. Greener Results also has helped to develop and lead various other voluntary programs such as the Maryland Green Travel program and the National Restaurant Association’s Greener Restaurants program.
Under Tom’s leadership, Greener Results also works directly with many hotels and restaurants and other tourism operations providing an array of sustainability-based services such as overall green program management, assessments, waste auditing, and staff training. Greener Results has teaches a certificate program on how to run effective green tourism programs entitled Sustainable Hospitality Management that is offered by Virginia Tech’s continuing education centers. Lastly, Greener Results also recently announced its Green Events Management & Staffing services.

Virginia Green & the Blue Ridge Parkway: A Logical Partnership for Promoting Green Tourism Practices and Preserving Virginia’s Natural Resources
Virginia Green is the statewide program that works to reduce the environmental impacts of Virginia’s tourism industry. It is a partnership between the Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. The program awards Virginia Green Certification to tourism-related businesses – such as hotels, restaurants and attractions – taking voluntary actions to reduce harmful impacts on the environment. During its 75th Anniversary year, the Blue Ridge Parkway became Virginia Green certified.
