With a peak elevation of 5,300 feet and only minutes from the parkway, the Village of Sugar Mountain has become known as one of the High Country’s most attractive destinations for travelers and is the perfect base camp for your next mountain adventure. With a year ‘round blend of adventure, beauty, and tranquility, the Village is a destination for all seasons. In and around the Village you will find a Frank Duane designed 18-hole public golf course, Har-Tru clay tennis courts, miles of trails to hike and bike, outdoor adventure outfitters, shopping, restaurants, and a range of cozy lodging options to rest and rejuvenate. In the winter, grab your skis and snowboard and enjoy North Carolina’s largest ski area.

For 25 years, parkway travelers have visited the Village of Sugar Mountain for our astounding mountain scenery, close proximity to High Country attractions, and year-round adventure. The Village of Sugar Mountain continues to support and promote our region’s rich heritage, including the Blue Ridge Parkway, to our visitors.

How We're Doing Our Part

The Village of Sugar Mountain Tourism Development Authority (TDA) is located inside the Village Hall where we offer itineraries, trail maps, Blue Ridge Parkway maps, and information on the attractions and culture of the area. Featured during the anniversary year will be Sugar Mountain’s 25th Anniversary Celebration, Oktoberfest, SugarFest, and various other local festivals and music events.
