Budget Impacts
The Parkway’s $14.3 million budget is broken down as follows:
- 40% maintenance
- 25% law enforcement
- 8% interpretation
- 15% administration/management
- 12% resource management
71 permanent positions out of 237 have been lost since 2001, including:
- 37% of maintenance positions
- 29% of administrative positions
- 40% of resource management and planning positions
- 40% of superintendent’s office positions
The Parkway’s interpretive staff, which is responsible for providing coverage for the 14 visitor contact stations, is comprised of only 6 permanent positions, along with 26 FTEs of seasonal positions.
