FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway Offers Volunteer Registration Portal for 75th Anniversary
Volunteering is a uniquely American tradition that has made an immeasurable contribution to communities, organizations, and individuals since the early days of this country’s founding. Today’s volunteers are active, dynamic, creative individuals who possess the skills, desire, patience, and time to accomplish a wide variety of tasks.

The Blue Ridge Parkway received the benefit of 1,400 volunteers in 2008 who provided more than 50,000 hours of service! Like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Blue Ridge Parkway 75 is partnering with FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway – a non-profit group with offices in Virginia and North Carolina and chapters all along the Parkway corridor – to match potential volunteers with the Anniversary’s needs. FRIENDS maintains an on-line portal for individuals and groups to apply for volunteer tasks along the Parkway. In addition to helping with the 75th Anniversary, FRIENDS is actively involved in:
- Viewshed Protection Program
- Volunteers In Parks Program
- Adopt-A-Trail Program
- Blue Ridge Parkway Information and Public Education
- “Save the Hemlock” Project
We anticipate a number of volunteer opportunities leading up to and during the 75th Anniversary year. Volunteers will be needed to help prepare for events along the Parkway, serve as ambassadors at official 75th Anniversary events in local communities, serve at signature events related to the 75th Anniversary, and provide administrative support. Volunteers should enjoy working with the general public, be flexible and accommodating, and be interested in Parkway history.
Please visit the FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway Web site today and register as a volunteer for Blue Ridge Parkway 75. We can’t wait to meet you!
