Be Informed
Being informed about the issues helps us make smarter decision and affect change
President Franklin D. Roosevelt
and many other leaders and citizens
laid a strong and important foundation
for the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The Blue Ridge Parkway must cultivate a new army of citizen advocates willing to speak out regarding challenging issues and take action when necessary.
A few things you can do:
- Take time to identify the areas of the Parkway that are important to you, your community, or your personal history. Why do these areas or features matter to you? Share that information with your family and friends.
- Learn about the Parkway – its past, present, and future. There are a myriad of resources on this Web site and many more can be found on other Parkway Web sites.
- Learn about the Parkway’s history as it relates to your community or family’s history.
- Find out about the precious resources along the Parkway by reading the Issue Sheets posted in the Future of the Parkway section of this website.
In the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.
