The Cradle of Forestry opens for the 2010 season with a celebration of traditional Blue Ridge culture. Volunteer crafters engage in heritage activities such as spinning, wood carving, and hearth cooking. A local family brings up a team of workhorses and, weather permitting, plows our garden and interacts with visitors, inviting them to learn to plow. The Cradle’s 1915 Climax locomotive is moved out of its winter shelter. The day closes with live traditional music by the garden.
