Oktoberfest in Old Fort is a three-day event celebrating fall in the mountains. The festival features food, local crafts, and musicians along with children’s rides. The Chamber of Commerce and Town of Old Fort have hosted this event every year since 1993. Displays featuring the Blue Ridge Parkway with brochures and handouts will be available at the Chamber Booth; pictures and history of the CCC camp at Curtis Creek will also be available. The festival is held on the grounds of the Mountain Gateway Museum, which is a 1936 WPA stone building on the banks of historic Mill Creek. The Mountain Gateway Museum offers many educational programs, including the history of handmade instruments and homemade music of the mountain people in Old Fort.
