On the second Saturday of each August, Valdese holds its
annual Waldensian Festival to commemorate the return of the Waldenses from
exile in Switzerland to their native valleys in the Cottian Alps of Italy in
1689. This celebration is mirrored all around the world by other Waldensian
communities and is known as the Glorious Return. Come to Valdese and
celebrate this historic event!
August 13th 6:00pm - 10:00pm Free Entertainment featuring “The Catalinas”
and and a Classic/Antique Car Show
August 14th 9:00am - 9:30pm
All day with numerous events such as over 150 craft and food vendors, bocci
tournament (favorite pastime of the Waldensians), footrace, free
entertainment and wine tasting of traditional Waldensian Wine. Saturday
night the festival will conclude with “The Fantstic Shakers.”
All attractions will be open during the day and a shuttle bus will be
available.
