Old Fines Creek School
190 Fines Creek Road
Clyde, NC

Capitalizing on local talent, the Fines Creek Bluegrass Jam is a showcase for the musical traditions of the Appalachian Mountains. The event is staged on the grounds of the old school that has served as the heart of the community for over 80 years. In August talented musicians combine the sounds of fiddles, guitars, banjoes, mandolins, and the occasional jew harp and clay jug for an appreciative audience. Bluegrass groups may consist of family members with a long musical history in the valley or newly formed performers with a love of old songs. Many of the tunes played have reverberated through these mountains for over 100 years.

The fast-paced tunes bring audience members to the dance floor for clogging or, with a slower beat, a two step, or waltz.
