Orchard Gap
Fancy Gap Highway - Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 194

In Fancy Gap, we will hold our annual Apple Pickin’ Festival with our main goal to show the importance of agriculture along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the surrounding communities. Come pick your own apples or purchase them from one of our local orchards or on site the day of the event.

Storytelling is an integral part of our mountain heritage. Historically, it offered the storyteller an opportunity to teach values, keep our history and heritage alive, and provide an entertainment value around the home. This is still true today. Contestants can tell their own stories about the history and heritage of the Parkway in two age groups (5 to 12 and 13 and older) for a chance to win prizes based on the best storyteller.

There will be Bluegrass music, dancing, crafters, artisans, and vendors offering food and entertainment for all.

A fun zone for the kids will offer face painting, games, and entertainment.

A bake-off contest will allow locals to present their favorite apple recipes for cookies, pies, cakes, and other baked good items using local apples. The traditions of good home cooking will surprise you.

Visit our Blue Ridge HOST, Inc. Visitors Center to obtain additional information about our local festivals and businesses that are located along the Parkway and the surrounding area. It is located just below the bridge on Highway 52 - headed south from the Parkway.
