The Alleghany Agricultural Fair and Carnival is an annual event featuring livestock competition, craft and food competition, carnival rides, food and a lawn mower race and fireworks to wrap up the festivities for the week. The livestock competition begins at 6p at the Barn on August 23-27. The Black Building will display entries of agricultural and craft products for competition from the 23-28. The carnival arrives on August 26 and runs through the August. On Friday, August 27, Shawn McDonald will perform a free concert of contemporary Christian music at 7p. The lawn mower race and fireworks on Saturday are a grand finale for the Fair.
