Transylvania Heritage Museum
West Main Street
Brevard, NC
West Main Street in Brevard will come alive with activity on Saturday, September 4, 2010. The Transylvania Heritage Museum will be holding their 2nd Annual Founders Day Fair, celebrating the Founding Families of Transylvania County. Starting at 10 a.m., craftspeople will demonstrate their skills and sell their wares in the old-fashioned arts, like spinning, weaving, patchwork, woodcarving, and more, with many dressed in period costumes. Also from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Main Stage will highlight local musical talent. The Museum will showcase Founding Family displays with descendants on hand to discuss the lives and legacies of Transylvania’s settlers. Docents will lead a walking tour of Historic Downtown Brevard for $10 per person. Pioneer families had to create their own entertainment and the Museum will do the same with Kids’ Old-Fashioned Contests and Games. With all this activity, people will be hungry and thirsty, so vendors will be on hand to fill the need. You may even spot a few pioneers just strolling through the crowd!
