Thank you for your interest in becoming an endorsed event of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s 75th Anniversary (BRP75) in 2010. The anniversary promises to be a year of celebration, reflection, and newfound discovery of one of our nation’s most important cultural and natural treasures. Please read the following guidelines carefully and submit your events using the application form provided.
Endorsement Criteria
To be considered by BRP75 for endorsement, the applicant must demonstrate to BRP75’s satisfaction that the proposed event meets at least one of these anniversary goals:
- Raises awareness of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s 75th Anniversary by developing and sharing engaging information about the importance of this exceptional natural and cultural resource (for example – event organizers plan to highlight nearby Parkway features and their importance to the local community).
- Involves local communities in the 75th Anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway through events that focus regional and national attention on the history and stewardship of this treasure (for example – event organizers plan to honor community members who have worked on the Parkway during construction or in recent years).
- Advances a new generation of stewards, advocates and elected officials who embrace Parkway values, speak out regarding future challenges, and actively work for a sustainable and healthy Blue Ridge Parkway (for example – event organizers plan to implement recycling and provide information about how protecting the environment helps protect the biodiversity of habitats on the Parkway).
