BRP75 Board at Cumberland Knob – April 2009

A non-profit organization, Blue Ridge Parkway 75, Inc., has been established and tasked with the responsibility of planning and implementing the Parkway’s 75th Anniversary celebration. The organization’s Board of Directors is made up of community leaders who have exhibited their commitment to the Parkway through their leadership service, and who are steadfast in their desire to preserve the Parkway experience for generations to come. The Board includes representatives from all of the Parkway’s partner groups and from the states of North Carolina and Virginia. Retired Parkway superintendent, Dan Brown, serves as president of the Board. Staff for this effort is being provided by the NC Division of Tourism and the County of Roanoke, VA.

Mission

Plan, fund, and organize the events and activities of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s 75th Anniversary; educate the general public about the Parkway’s value and assets; and, through collaborative partnerships, realize the vision of the Anniversary.

Vision

Engage local communities and the nation in efforts to sustain a healthy Blue Ridge Parkway for future generations by celebrating 75 years of Parkway history, Appalachian culture, and spectacular scenic views.

Promoting Parkway Communities

Blue Ridge Parkway 75, Inc. is committed to highlighting the many communities along the Blue Ridge Parkway corridor. Applications are now being taken for Parkway cities, counties, and towns interested in showcasing their community on this Web site. The listing is free, and the process is simple: complete the application and return it with a high-quality jpeg photo – past or present – of your community. We’ll post this information and you’ll be included in the rotation of communities being spotlighted and have your very own locator pin on the Parkway region map. More information can be found on the Community Spotlight Application. Please note: events will only be posted in communities that have turned in a Community Spotlight Application!

New Community Banner Program

Through a relationship with Imaging Technologies, a number of Blue Ridge Parkway 75th Anniversary banners are available to display in communities or at events. These include event banners, pole banners that can be personalized to include the community’s name, and posters. Banner samples are available on this interactive PDF form; orders may also be placed using this form. For more information, contact Imaging Technologies directly by e-mail at BRP@itrepro.com or phone at 828.253.8467.

Logo Usage

Use of the Blue Ridge Parkway 75th Anniversary logo is limited to those who have submitted a completed logo usage application and received approval for its use.
